Poem: Scattered Ants

Waking, tossing turning
Moving through my sheets
Wrestling with restlessness
Knowing what I know
Seeing what I see
We have forgotten
What it means to be Your people
We have taken individuality
Forged idols out of fools, ourselves
We've become lukewarm and bitter to Your taste
Forgetting the whole message You showed
We forget to even share the basics
Or we worship our bubbles because they are so comfortable
Without being fully mindful of Your sacrifice
We have become like the scattered ants
Trying to find our way around Your feet
Forgive us...
