"You Can Close Your Eyes"
Yesterday I came across an old song that sparked a memory. "You Can Close Your Eyes" brought me back to the early years of my childhood before the chaos happened. My Mom was the hippie-type that made all my baby food from scratch with things from her organic garden and made all my clothes by hand. And though she denies it, I remember her smoking pot while working in the yard on a sunny day. It seems like people were less fettered then and not so afraid to show their hearts and were more comfortable in their skin. The music was more about genuine love then rather than the lust of today. I think we've strayed from an important truth from the days of our parents and our youth, it's okay to be vulnerable and it's okay to say that you genuinely love someone even if things aren't going right... Like a friend I know, I think I too might have just been born in the wrong era. By being so consumed by the rat race, we've forgotten what truly matters...each other...
