It is with dueling thoughts I even am going to write this short review. I really bought this book in error so see already I don't have the common sense to get the right book. However, I did read it completely. The story was a bit of a downer to begin with first Lilliannes's best friend is diagnosis with cancer and dies her friends husband dies from an accident. There are 3 other deaths in the book and a rape. Barring this stopping you from even finishing the review, it is well-written. The story continued to intrigue me by wondering how in the world this was going to have a happy ending. IT DOES. The book was entertaining can't say there was a lot of joy, but is life all sunshine and roses no. I liked the book after all I completed it. Romance, tragedy, heartbreak then happiness your kind of book then this is for you.
I thoroughly enjoy this author and the stories that she writes. She has a way of portraying the Amish people and their traditions in a way that is so realistic that the reader is hooked right away. Her use of the Amish language helps to create a realistic feeling for the readers. This story was filled with love, sadness, forgiveness and acceptance. There were times when I wanted to weep with Lillianne and times when I wanted her to get angry and punch someone! Lillianne stayed true to her Amish ways, and in the end her peaceful ways won out.I have read other books by this author and look forward to reading more. She is able to draw the readers in and keep them hooked until the very end. I was given a free copy of this book by the author in exchange for my honest review. If you like Amish fiction you’ll like this book by a talented author.
Ms. Spredemann has done it once again. A story you wouldn't expect to hear from an Amish perspective. These types of things happen in the world and this books helps us understand that not everything is as it seems. Good story. Interesting characters and love wins out in the end.Well worth the read--unless you expect everything to be happy and carefree.The protagonist has a love for her man like we all should have.
I would recommend this to the highest degree. It is such an interesting read it is hard to put it down once the first page is read.
This book was very simple. Not a lot of depth to the story. If you are looking for something to pass the time then it could fit the bill but don't expect anything with depth.
The author deals wonderfully with some tough topic. This book is compelling and engaging. The characters are well defined and authentic. My only suggestion would be to change the book cover. It's very dark and busy and does not draw you in to the book. The cover does not convey how phenomenal this book is.
A love story of Mercy, Grace and forgiveness the best part of all the Roman road to salvation where Thomas got saved.
This was a very moving and emotional story. I would classify it as a definite kleenex story. Well written and with a good base line that kept you hanging till the end. The Amish Secrets series is a very good series and I highly recommend all the books. I have been enjoying reading the books by J.E.B. Spredemann quite a bit.
