First of all, shout out to the authors (Sandy and Steve) ,Sandy is a former Liveaboard dive vessel captain, and Steve has 7000 dives.I dove with these guys at multiple dive sites while they where taking photos and taking notes for this book in the west End of Honduras.This is high end investigative travel writing as it should be. They did all the work them selves, not just some Wikipedia rip off. I know because I was there when they did it. When I read this book the first thing I thought was “wow I have to go back, there are so many dive spots I missed†I primarily stayed in the west end of Honduras. It’s good to know that there are many more resorts and dive locations I have access to if I go back to the Bay Islands.The images in the book are extremely clear, it’s cool to see what high end industrial dive cameras can take.No you won’t find where the best bar or night cub is in this book, but that’s not what this book is for. This is a dive travel bookIf you don’t dive, the book let’s you know what you’re missing out on as far as fish, coral, and scuba diving in general, but it also gives a good description of the modes of transportation to get to and from Roatan as well as a good insight to other nature activities on the island like snorkeling, kayaking, and zip liningFunny enough, when I read through some of the dive advice like take the nitrox class, and don’t be afraid to try a Liveaboard, and when you do or do not need a wet suit, they bring back flashbacks and personal jabs against me because thats the advice I got from them on the dive boat when I was sitting there shivering after repetitive dives.When they say there are turtles in the west end they are not kidding. So many turtles.The coolest thing about this book was remembering while, I was reading about the the dive sites I dove. I had forgotten the names and topography of many of the dive sites, but this book has them, with good photos, and amazing descriptions.The book brought back delightful memories of my amazing vacation to Roatan Honduras.
This is a very comprehensive, thorough book. If you plan to travel to the Bay Islands this ebook is a MUST READ!! You will find information on every detail needed to plan an outstanding trip! The photography is amazing! I have traveled to the Bay Islands twice and I am looking forward to going back with much more knowledge and insight since I have read this book!I highly recommend.
